It was a classless move.... You could tell that at least 2 guys were yelling to him that the game wasn't over. I will go back and watch it again tonight, but I think you could read his lips saying "I know..." and he still went out to shake Coughlin's hand then left the field.
He is a sore loser, and I couldn't be happier that he got beat.

Personally I think it was a classless move by Bill as well. But I also hate Belichick so I too could be a little biased.
Did anyone else see the shot of Shockey up in the suite instead of down on the sidelines? What were thoughts on that? I mean I know he has a broken leg but I thought he could have at least showed some support and been on the sidelines to help cheer on his teammates. It doesn't really surprise me knowing who we're talking about and his personality but I thought that was pretty classless especially for him!

Does it matter that he was put on IR? Maybe he can't be on the sideline.

That was also something I found odd - typically those guys are on the sidelines but if I remember correctly it's happened a lot in the past in the Super Bowl where injured players are up above in the boxes.

He can be on the sidelines - guys on IR are on the sidelines all the time. I have no idea why he was up there having a blast while his team was playing their biggest game.
Perhaps the coaches felt it was best for him not to be on the sidelines - but I find that hard to believe.

He looked intent on making it over to Tom even as he was being told numerous times that the game wasn't over.

I think Belichick really had a brain cramp when he decided to go for it on 4th and 13 about mid-way through the 3rd quarter instead of trying a field goal. I think it would have been about a 49 yarder, and their kicker has hit from 52. That move surprised me, especially in a tight, low scoring game.

The fact that he effectively forfeited one second didn't bother me. Nothing was going to happen. I kinda thought it a bit classy that he tried to just forgo it and let the celebration begin. Instead the refs (as per the rules), NFL and everyone had to clear the field, suspend the celebration just for the sake of one meaningless second and snap.
However, I don't think BB is particularly classy nor was that his intent on leaving. He was pouting and that came across loud and clear in the post game interview.

Belichick leaving with 1 second left is a non-story.
The real story is why did the score keeper not just run the time off the clock? I think he was a Giant's fan that wanted to stick it to the Patriots by making them come back out for one worthless play for the Giants to celebrate on.

I didn't think it was that disrespectful to the Giants, but what kind of message does that send to your team? His players have to go out for that final snap while watching their coach storming off to the locker room. |
