I would be interested in joining again this year. I don't have a preference as far as keepers go. I would probably lean more towards not having keepers with the knowledge that we will have them after this year. It can make a pretty big difference in drafting strategy and I'm sure most people drafted last year thinking it wasn't a keeper league.
Edit: Looks like you posted while I was posting. I joined the keeper league.

Thanks for setting the keeper league up. I have been looking for a keeper league to get into and wanted to play with people I had some connection with.

rip - we need to start discussing in the keeper league the overall rules:
1. how many guys are being kept from year to year
2. should the rosters be slightly bigger?
3. maybe it should be head to head so you can have playoffs and such
Just some things to think about... I'll help in any way I can. I play in a 16 team contract league, with 30 player rosters, where your players you'd want to keep are assigned a contract (you get 1 5yr, 5-3yr, and 10-2yr contracts; plus many other rules); so i have some experience. Basically we just need to establish who can be kept, how long they can be kept, etc. If we don't, players like Pujols, Soriano, etc will be drafted this year and never be around again :)

I was thinking of keeping 3 each year, 1 position player, 1 pitcher, and the 3rd could be either...managers choice of pitcher or position.
When i created the league i expanded the bench players, but i only expanded it from 5 to 6. We could do it more. Maybe even add another Util. player. But we dont want players just hoarding potential on their bench.
Ive never been a fan of head to head, maybe cause in football every year I have a good team, but the great players never play down the stretch and the best team doesnt always win. We can vote on it though.
And as terms of contracts go, we can have them, but we should keep them short term. Who know how many people will actually stick with us.
I remember seeing ESPN used to do keeper leagues, and id be interested in doing one there where we pay for a set number of years, just so you know everyone is serious.

I remember seeing ESPN used to do keeper leagues, and id be interested in doing one there where we pay for a set number of years, just so you know everyone is serious. It all sounds good. Lets make that be the case - 3 players per year, 1 position, 1 pitcher, 1 of your choice.
I like the 6th bench person, and lets increase the roster by 1 more OF, give 4 OFs (I do this in another league and it helps the competitiveness of the league) so you'd have: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, OF, UTIL, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P + 6 bench.
No need to pay for a league - however, yahoo makes you pay if you want live stat tracker, don't know how big of a deal that is with anyone. ESPN's website is pretty great for fantasy baseball, in my opinion. They have some extras that Yahoo doesn't, at least as of last year.
As for terms of contracts, you need it so there's different players available different years. Example: Lets say all 3 of you players can only be kept for 2 years. Obviously most people will keep their first round pick, most of the 2nd round picks and their best pitcher. The same players (75% of the time) will be available every two years - and then the same rounds will be drafted every other year when we've got a couple years under our belts. (Does any of this make sense? ) So do we have one 3yr player, and two 2yr players? I think that will be best, initially.

And a KEEPER league. ID # 52696. Please sign up for this if you will want to play next year and possibly the year after that if we all decide to. Keep that in mind when joining, I dont wanna hear people bitc****, cause strategy will be a little different. You have to plan for next year and look for good young talent.
There are only 11 open slots per league, so join ASAP if you want in. The password to both leagues is cyclones . Once the league are full we can discus a draft date and time for each. So is #52696 not a keeper any more?

I'll pass on the keeper league. One league is enough to keep track of as it is. Someone might have a decent start to a team if they want mine: Reyes, Sizemore, Wagner probably the best 3 guys I had at the end of the season. Now if you want to turn the league we drafted last night into a keeper next year I'm probably all for that considering I got A-Rod :)
