Bedard to Seattle trade was completed. Based on what I've read, that may open the door for the Roberts to Cubs deal since I think the O's wanted to see what they could get for Bedard first. Hopefully the Cubs don't give up too much for Roberts.

They need pitching now and the Cubs have some excess of that so how about Marshall, some guys like Cedeno or Patterson and see if they'll take Marquis or Dumpster in the deal for Roberts? Cubs got Lieber now so they have some depth to trade a guy or 2 away and just slide someone else into the bottom of the rotation.

You know, if they get Roberts, they'll have even less of an excuse than this last year when they blow it. | Visit the blog... I thought that Baltimore had the potential to get a lot more for Bedard than they did.

They got more for Bedard than Minnesota got from NYM. Baltimore nailed that trade. Proven relief pitcher who will be their closer most likely, the top OF prospect in MLB, and a pitcher that is considered a #2 or 3 starter once he gets to the bigs in another year or two.
The deal between the Cubs and Balt is supposedly the following:

COMPLETELY good trade for Chicago in my opinion. We'll see how it all goes.

Top outfield prospect is Jay Bruce... but yea... Adam Jones is good.
Plus, whoever got Santana was only getting 1 year guaranteed, but Bedard still has 2 years on his contract.

COMPLETELY good trade for Chicago in my opinion. We'll see how it all goes. I agree. I'd take that deal in a heartbeat, but I don't think it will be that easy.
