Is anyone going to watch the Kelly Pavlik / Jermain Taylor rematch this (2-16-08) Saturday night?

That should be a great fight. I think Taylor might pull the upset and get revenge.

Since UFC came around, I have not watched a boxing match in years.

Ok, that is too short. How about WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?
:) (Not a boxing fan - although sometimes I will stop and watch if some butt kicking is going on)

Yes, I will be watching. HBO has a great lineup coming up. You can watch HBO's ppv events a week later if you want to save the $50.

I like Taylors chances, he had Pavlik on the ropes in their first fight just couldnt finish him off.

If it were 20 years ago, Pavlik would be an international superstar. Now, he can't get any love. People don't even know who he is.
I also like Taylor in this one - he was thumping Pavlik before he landed that big punch.

I like UFC better than boxing, but I enjoy watching a good boxing match.

Anyone watch the Paul Williams/Quintano fight this weekend? Pretty big upset - a lot of people though Williams had a shot at Mayweather.

I am a fairly big boxing fan but I think it is a sport that is in trouble. With all of the sanctioning bodies there are like 15 world champions. It really doesn't mean anything anymore to be a WOLRD champion. Also, there aren't really that many true fighters today, but rather a lot of conservative boxers. For true fans of the sport, this may not be a problem, but for wide spread appeal it is killing the sport. People would much rather watch a couple of guys wail on each other than see a solid technical fight. This is why the UFC type stuff is so popular.

Neither one ever attended the University of Iowa.
