The first day of spring training and the Cub's chances in 2008 have already been flushed. Pitcher Ryan Dempster has already stated that he honestly believes the Cubs will win the World Series this year.
I'm all for positive thinking, but when you play for the Cubs, just shut up, go out, and play hard. ESPN - Dempster thinks Cubs will end drought, take World Series - MLB | |

I think they could have a better chance this year if they can figure out a way to not make me feel like I'm having a heart attack every time they put in a closer...

Huh? the Cubs have a chance? Well, I guess "you too could have already won $20 million" as well.
My prediction: The Cubbies will do just good enough to crush their fans, yet again. Hey, that was my same prediction as last year. And the year before that. And the year before that....

Sorry - it's the exact opposite - even after all of this time they sell out every game, fill the stands, etc. You only hear about teams like the twins, the marlins, the mariners, etc, who have fans that only show up when the team is winning (or when Santana pitches - so double ouch now)... I think it takes quite a bit to crush our fan base - but I will personally beat anyone off the bandwagon IF the Cubs do go on a run... I like the fans we have now, and I don't want our fan base turning into Red Sox nation lite...  |
