Maybe he's clumsy when he's not playing, and just runs into stuff a lot, causing the swelling.

Is there a possibility that the MLB is being more heavily scrutinized than the NFL because of the importance placed on individual perfomance in MLB. It's certainly looked at in the NFL, but not to the degree it is in MLB.

Now, that being said, if one of the NFL's running backs set the all time season rushing record and then tested positive for a performance enhancing substance I think it would be brought to the forefront quickly in that league.
