Here is a picture of the proposed new stadium for the Tampa Rays. Looks to be pretty cool and original. Should really help them out with attendance too since it will be in a much better location...

That's awesome, but why did they change their name and colors just a little bit? It's not that big of a leap between Devil Ray's and rays.

I wonder if the sail is retractable...
I think the new ownership group wanted to change things up. Especially since there was such a negative associated with the Devil Rays.

I was thinking along the same lines. I hope it doesn't turn out to be like where the Expos used to play. That place seemed to be a disaster from the start.

Very neat looking stadium. And nice location by the marina.

Actually, the article I linked says that the photo shows the stadium with the roof in the "closed" position. This Rays' 'sailboat' stadium looks pretty cool - MLB Experts Blog - MLB - Yahoo! The Rays will be a very good team in the future, with a great young nucleus of talent in the Minors, and several very good prospects in the bigs. Carl Crawford can always be counted on too, and they have Scott Kazmir, who when he gets it together has crazy stuff.

It will still be tough for the Rays to ever make the post-season as long as they are in the same division as the Yankees and Red Sox, who will continue to buy their way into the playoffs year after year. That said, I'll continue to root for them to the win the AL East.

True that they will be a very good team in the future, but unfortunately for them it's likely they'll never finish better than third as they'll never be in the same spending league as NY and Boston. Their only true hope is to somehow miraculously be realigned into another division that doesn't include those two...
