Who would you like to have as the Cubs closer
There is a three way battle going on with:
Howry who was lack luster last start before the All-Star break with a 4.68 ERA but accomplished a 1.85 ERA afterwards
Wood has had shoulder injuries but will he be durable enough through the season?
Marmol has only had a half of a season in the bigs and is lacking the experiance of the other two.
Or another (REASONABLE) choice.

I say Marmol... Trial by fire... He will blow some this year... but it will be better in the long run.

i like wood for the closer position. then we can use marmol and howry like we did down the stretch last year. lets just let wood go in and throw his heart out as long as he can get the save though. nothing makes me more mad than the cubs blowing a save. also dont put dumpster in the rotation!

Marmol has perfect stuff for a closes and seems to have the right attitude to be a closer. Howry doesn't have the right kind of stuff and Wood is injured too darned often. Go Marmol!

I don't think Marmol has what it takes to close quite yet. He deteriorated down the stretch and in the playoffs (2HRs 9.00 ERA) when the heat was on. Wood has more experience and isn't going to get the yips. Howry has the worst stuff of the three so I'd take Marmol in a close 2nd.

Give me Wood. Hammering nail into Wood | EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

It always takes time for Woods to warm up, I don't think he would be a good closer. Possible middle relief, but even then I don't trust him.

Im not a cubs fan but if things go south with their closer situation, my Twins are most likely going to trade Joe Nathan sometime during the season for young infielding talent. Any cubs fans think this could happen?
