Rex Grossman signs one-year contract with Chicago
Well, the buzz is today that he very well could. Lovie is quoted as saying
"There have been some highs and some lows." Bears coach Lovie Smith. "I choose to remember more of those highs."

Re: Rex Grossman to remain a Bear?
22, Is Kyle Orton still in the mix at all??

Re: Rex Grossman to remain a Bear?
They did not mention Orton on ESPN. Brian was mentioned and they felt he would be the back-up.
I think Orton is a free-agent, could be wrong. I'd be shocked if he returned to Chicago - as he felt he got a raw deal (and has a case, IMO). The fact the Bears are working to bring back Grossman won't make that issue any better.

Re: Rex Grossman to remain a Bear?
Why can't the bears get a freakin qb. Rex will never do it for them, either will griese. I find it ridiculous when you only have a window for few years with your defense to get it done.

Chicago will go crazy if they bring back Rex, Greise and Orton with no one else! The city will be up in arms!

YEEESSS!!! Oh wait...I'm a Bears fan.
And Orton has 1 more year on his deal I believe.

I would actually like to see them trade it way for a veteran Starting QB . . . or maybe Sage or Seneca.

Re: Rex Grossman to remain a Bear?
When was the last time the Bears had a good QB? For all the good LBers, RBs, and good players the Bears have had they sure havnt had many good QBs. Since I have been a Bears fan, they have either got rid of young QBs before they got good or got old QBs past their prime.

Re: Rex Grossman to remain a Bear?
I almost vividly recall a conversation on ESPN at the end of last season, talking about Orton and how he felt the Bears treated him. Said he auditioned pretty well and there was almost no way he'd return and sign another contract with Chicago.
Like I said, I could be wrong - but that's what I remember.

Re: Rex Grossman to remain a Bear?
I just looked it up. Orton signed a 4-yr contract in 2005 so he will be a Bear next year.
As far as Bear QBs, there have been 20-some different starters in the past 10 years...its sickening.

Please Lord say it ain't so.

Re: Rex Grossman to remain a Bear?
Ive heard and hope that Orton is gonna have a good shot at starting next year. I liked some of the things that I saw the last two games of the year from him. Read that the bears are gonna try and get O-lineman in the first round, so I would look for a QB in 2nd round from them. If they can get consistant quarterback play with a boost in the running game, and the defense being healthy again the bears could be back in contention in the NFC.

Re: Rex Grossman to remain a Bear?
This is pretty dissapointing... But I don't think there is any way that the Bears can get someone better for next year.
I feel bad for Orton. He should probably be a #2 QB, and once his contract is up I'm sure he will be a #2 for another team.
I think that sticking with Rex next year is more about not being able to get someone better. If somehow the Bears could get McNabb I think that they would.
