Gruesome Injury (Soccer)

Now I realize there probably aren't a ton of soccer fans on the forum, but did anyone see the Arsenal v. Birmingham City game in the English Premier League today? Eduardo (a striker for Arsenal) suffered possibly the worst injury I have ever seen in any sport.

In the 2nd or 3rd minute of the game, a Birmingham defender (Martin Taylor) slid "studs-up" into Eduardo's ankle. It didn't look like he was even playing the ball and the tackle looked pretty intentional to me (and Taylor's reaction immediately after sure doesn't look regretful).

The injury was so bad that they wouldn't even play replays of it on TV. Eduardo required 8 minutes of treatment on the field before being taken to the hospital. They are already saying that he may never play professionally again (he's only 24). The looks on his teammate's faces were pretty sickening. After the game, Arsene Wenger (Arsenal's coach) has called for a lifetime ban for the defender (probably not likely to happen, but you can understand why Wenger is upset).

Anyway, the site below is a photo album of the injury. WARNING! VIEW PICTURES AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Re: Gruesome Injury (Soccer)

I tell you what.........I don't care what sport it would be, if you did that to my teammate and then had that crap eating grin on your face while you were looking at it, your *** is grass and I'm the lawnmower. I have never seen the defender before and don't know much about soccer, but I can feel rage in my veins just looking at his stupid face. Only time he has a worried look on his face is when the official is walking him off the field after being ejected(or at least I assume) and that is probably worry about his future not the dude he took out.

Question for the day: Can I still make season tickets work for FB and MBB if I move to Canada?

Yep. Soccer isn't rough at all.

Agreed. The defender is just a fringe player at Birmingham who was probably trying to impress his coach by playing "physical" with Arsenal (as most opposing managers tell their teams to play against them to get them off their game). Taylor was shown a straight red card and will undoubtedly face a disciplinary hearing with the league where they will decide on a suspension.

Oh, and now he has already gotten into "I just feel horrible about this whole thing"-mode to try and save himself from a long suspension. He better be careful though if he ever goes to North London again...

The look on the dude's face says it all...he did it on purpose and felt zero remorse. I hope he gets what's coming to him.

It's got pix and then at about :40 the video starts...

I think there are a few soccer fans in here, but either way I kinda like watching leg and arm breaks (i'm weird like that.) And this one was just SICK! Dammit that would hurt...
