Signed with the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals ... earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 accolades in 2005 ... a four-year starter for the Bears at fullback ... began his career as a walk-on and was awarded a scholarship after his redshirt-freshman campaign.
2005: Fought through a broken jaw during spring '05 drills and was ready to go during the fall ... finished sixth on the squad with 13 catches for 188 yards ... his 54-yard reception at New Mexico State was one of Cal's longest pass plays of the season ... caught TD passes against Washington State and Arizona and ran for scores against Sacramento State and USC ... had a 27-yard pass reception against the Trojans ... caught three passes covering 37 yards at Washington ... recipient of the Cal Coaches Award.
2004: Tallied excellent numbers at USC, rushing three times for 15 yards and catching a pair of passes for 21 yards ... had a season-long reception of 36 yards against Oregon ... scored his first touchdown of the season at Oregon State on a seven-yard pass.
2003: Played in all 14 games for the Bears, starting in every game (seven) when Cal opened the contest in a two-back set ... his longest run of the season came Nov. 15 when he ripped off a 15-yarder against Washington ... made vital contributions to Cal's Insight Bowl victory over Virginia Tech, rushing for 11 yards on three carries and catching three passes for 23 yards ... his three-yard touchdown plunge to open the second half vaulted the Bears into a 28-28 tie with the Hokies, and Cal never again trailed in the bowl game.
2002: Burst onto the scene in the Baylor opener, hauling in three passes for 41 yards, including an 18-yard TD catch in the second quarter ... rushed three times for nine yards vs. Air Force ... closed out the season with one of his better games vs. Stanford, finishing with two runs for 12 yards and a 17-yard pass reception.
2001: Redshirt.
High School: Claimed league MVP honors as a senior ... also voted honorable mention all-state, first team all-county and CIF MVP that season ... scored a school- and district-record 31 TDs his senior year and his 2,200 career rushing yards were No. 2 in school history ... as a junior, selected his league's offensive MVP after leading Newport Harbor to a 13-0-1 record and the CIF title ... participated in the Orange County All-Star Game and the L.A. vs. Orange County All-Star Game.
Personal: Father played defensive end and fullback at Michigan State ... parents are Paul and Vicki Manderino ... born Anaheim ... American studies major.

I'm glad we gave up that first round pick (or whatever it was) for the rights to sign Herm Edwards.

Maybe the Chiefs don't have any players that could make other rosters, or even their training camps If that were the case, then castaways might be a step up for them.
