The L.A. Pomlee's would be a good name.

People speculating that the vikings are going to leave are very very misinformed. Why sell a business that is 10x more successful revenue wise than say, jacksonville, oakland, Saints (one good year of fans coming out of the wood works because they actually fielded a decent team doesn't count), and heck, the dolphins are bringing in as many fans as the florida marlins are. I think most of the hype itself is because Ziggy wants a new stadium, which he will get if he waits at least until TCF bank stadium is done, people need to remember that the state of Minnesota is paying for two stadiums at the moment and money isn't exactly falling from the sky.

It's already too big as it is.
You are talking about the least-populated area of the country. These maps don't lie:

NFL Football Teams - CBSSports.com
MLB Baseball Teams - CBSSports.com
NBA Basketball Teams - CBSSports.com

Some quotes from this ESPN article...

ESPN - If you build it, will they come? L.A. stadium plans unveiled - NFL

"Roski said around 12 million people live within 25 miles of the site."

I'm not sure there are 12 million people living in all of the states you mentioned, combined.

"The stadium is a certainty and it will be built."

And, Roski added, without public money.

"Absolutely no taxpayer dollars," he said. "There's no taxpayer dollars to get."

As one of those 12 million people, that part is nice.

Also... It would almost certainly be added to the regular SuperBowl rotation, and possibly (my thought) as a location for the BCS Championship Game. Both the Sugar Bowl and the BCS Champ. were played in the SuperDome this Jan.

It's not the butts in the seat that pays the bills for NFL teams its the luxary box sales and corp. partnerships. With that in mind I think the Saints make the most sense to move because I just don't see the corporate dollars in NO as some of the other areas... and if thats the case they will DEFINATELY need a name change...

I agree. NO makes the most sense. As for the name change, I would push for the name of LA's last professional football champion...the LA Xtreme!

I thought that the Vikes were on schedule to have a new stadium built?

"I just back into town and I hear all this stuff, and Buster Olney is making my team up now and [Genske] wants to tell me who is going to pitch here. No one is going to tell us who to put on our team and no one on ESPN is going to tell us who should pitch for my team. " -Gardy

Technically they are, Ziggy is funding half of it (500 mill out of 1 billion). They just have to wait till next year for it to be discussed in the legislature. They have the support for it, but just have to wait till the new twins and gophs stadiums are built because Pawlenty said he would veto otherwise.

Here's what Ziggy wants it to look like (bulldoze the dome and play at TCF till new stadium is built). Pics at bottom of page.

Edit: What I've said is from bits and pieces that I've heard and read, thing have probably changed since.

That's the rub, so far the stadium in Minneapolis is just talk.

If LA can get moving quicker - they'll easily lure 'em away if that's their #1 target.

Re: Proposed L.A. Football Stadium

I love how the people of LA complain how they have to drive so far to see a game yet it is just as far for people in Des Moines area to drive to a football game. They should just add more teams. LA and Oklahoma City or Las Vegas.
