Vikes Trade for Allen?

Personally, I'm not impressed with the idea. They have too many holes to fill, and could get an end in the draft who won't have five years of mileage on him. Tackle, wide receiver, tight end, safety, guard, maybe strongside linebacker, quarterback and the other end, when will they get filled?

Last I heard was a first rounder this year, a second next.

Re: Vikes Trade for Allen?

I'll repost this here.

How deep is the draft at ProBowl Defensive ends that led the league in sacks last year?

I'm not saying that he's a sure thing, but he's a safer bet than any Rookie will be. Plus, Minnesota doesn't exactly have the best track record in recent years when it come to taking defensive ends in the first round.

Erasmus James, Kenechi Udeze, and Demitrius Underwood come to mind.

Not necessarily bad guys (besides Underwood) but not exactly lighting the world on fire, either.

I'm not saying you're wrong, there defintely is a risk, but I think a proven talent like Allen's is awfully tempting.

He'd be a nice addition for sure, but a first and a second?

Jared Allen of the Chiefs.

I recall a couple of years ago they almost traded for an end from the Saints who had similar stats. I'm still glad they didn't.

This year's 1st and next year's 2nd? Is it worth it? I guess it depends on what kind of impact you think he will have on that defense. It is a lot to give up. But it's also a lot to gain.

wow, trading a first for jared allen is totally worth it. the guy is still young. he is a proven probowler who would help the vikes secondary, with his pass rush. the vikes havent had great success in drafting DE's in the first round, plus, if we add him we are a legit playoff team with basically one question mark, qb. As for the other DE, imo ray edwards and brian robison are extremely capable DE's.

Re: Vikes Trade for Allen?

Considering the Vikings have wasted about three #1 draft picks and still don't have a defensive end, I would say that he would be a good get. I have heard that the price is a First and a Third Round pick this year. But maybe they have upped the price.

The guy seems like an a** hole. But I only have that opinion of him probably because he always tears up the Vikings O-Line when they play the Chiefs and acts like an idiot after he does that. So I guess I would love to have him on my team and watch him act like an idiot. If that makes any sense.

That's another CYCLONE.....FIRST DOWN!!!!

my thoughts exactly. With the Williams boys in the middle and a guy like Allen on the outside, who gets double teamed?

That's a D-line in the same league as the Doleman, Thomas, Millard, Noga foursome of yesteryear.

Chiefs draft pics also have not set the world on fire.

Vikings are taking a pretty big risk on this one. 2 high draft picks is a lot and if he gets caught w/ alcohol one time, he gets a full year suspension. Supposedly he has given up booze all together so good for him if true.

Re: Vikes Trade for Allen?

They are now reporting that the Vikings are sending their 1st round pick and 2 3rd round picks. All this year.

As a Chiefs fan the guy was great to watch and will be missed. I wouldn't worry about the liquor his friends say he has it kicked and something will be written into any extension. That being said if I lived in MSP I would be drunk most nights I think.
