Fins taking Jake Long with the 1st pick...

Might as well start somewhere! However, defense is seriously lacking in Miami...

ESPN - Sources: Dolphins agree to deal with Long, will select OT No. 1 overall - NFL

As a Dolphins fan, I like the pick. Trust in the Tuna!

The thing that makes me feel all good inside is knowing that the Dolphins are a long way away from being relevant again.

I have a cousin-in-law (is there such a thing?) who is from Florida (like Mega-Hicksville in the 'Glades somewhere) and shows up to all family functions (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) wearing a ripped up, color-faded Dan Marino jersey circa 1993 (at best). You can't understand a word that comes out of his mouth.

I once considered having a discussion about the Dolphins with him, but then I thought the better of it, because he was rather Hawkeye-ish in his enthusiasm for the Dolphins. By that, of course, I mean that he is the sort of person who still thinks Dan Marino is the quarterback and has no idea who is on the current roster, and who thinks that Don Shula is still the coach.

I bet even though this is going down, Miami will still use almost all of their given time at the draft before they anounce. I am glad they shortened the time between picks this year, I love watching the draft but it gets pretty long.

Jake long is overrated. He was never as dominant enough to warrant the number 1 pick, robert gallery was more dominant in college and we all know how great he turned out to be.
this is a safe pick, chris long, vernon gholston, glenn dorsey all have the potential to be game changers. bad move by the tuna imo

Chris Long doesn't fit a 3-4 at all, and Glenn Dorsey would not be a game changer in a 3-4. Vernon Gholston would fit in nicely, but do you want to draft a LB first overall?

Nah, they'll still use the whole time. They always do.

Nope. Less time listening to Mel Kiper = A Good Thing

I have never understood the whole watching the draft thing. For me it is like watching grass grow. When you add in the fact that 90%+ of these kids getting paid more money than the GDP of some counties will be total busts it loses my interest even more.

Go outside and enjoy some fresh air, then look at the draft online when it is over. That is my strategy.

How can you NOT like the draft? The combination of college FB and the NFL. You get to see players most of us recognize in college move on to NFL teams. I love the highlights, the strategy, the trades. I get together with a bunch of buddies to watch the first two rounds every year. Someday we'll make the trip to NYC.

Do or do not, there is no try .....Yoda

Last year was the first time I have watched the draft for more then a couple of minutes. I will never again watch more then 5 minutes at a time as it is a total waste.
