Re: Cubs- Lovable Losers?

If the Cubbies keep hitting the way they are right now, they won't need one more starter. They are on pace to score over 1000 runs. Yes, its only 20 games into the season, but you can't knock the fact that they have one of the more potent offenses in the entire league. Oh, and by the way, they have scored these 44 runs in the last five games WITHOUT Soriano. Things are lookin great on the Northside.

True, but the schedule has been fairly easy so far. The Cardinals and Brewers are playing good ball and will slow down our numbers.

Ask Ronny Cedeno, we're going to win it all this year

I don't think Reed Johnson, Ronny Cedeno and Ryan Theriot will keep up the .330+ batting averages they have going for very long, but it sure is fun to watch for now.

Yeah, Johnson has forgotten he's not actually this good.

The Cubs need to address their pitching before they'll make any noise if and when they get to the playoffs.

Honestly, I don't see any team not named Arizona winning the NL this year.

I just jumped on the Cubby bandwagon as I fantasy traded to get Derek Lee for Ryan Howard. Cm'n Cubs.

That was a very smart trade. D Lee's wrist is back and he's seeing the ball as good as anyone. Could be a MVP type season.

Anyone else think it's a crime Fukudome isn't hitting #2? I know they need a lefty down in the order to break up the righties, but the guy can flatout get on base. C'mon Lou!

Exactly. The reason the team was so completely terrible for so long has a lot to do with a WHOLE LOT of bad front office moves.

I think the fact that he gets on base helps us out a lot in terms of scoring potential at the bottom of the lineup. With Fukudome followed by Soto, our potential for run scoring is spread across all nine guys. Plus, Reed Johnson has been hitting the ball real well, and doing just fine at the top of the order.

I dunno about the "loveable losers" title (as that squarely belongs to the Mets of the 1960s), but I certainly do love watching them lose

And actually, since 1998, it's actually more like Dodger white and blue and Giant black and orange...

You have to wonder how long their scoring will keep up like it has so far. I hope it does, they are the most entertaining team to watch in baseball.
