Now all they need to do is trade for Chad Johnson and they'll have a complete 3 ring circus.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves Orcs. ~ John Rogers -

Not to mention, the very good chance (if not near certainty) there would be an implosion of the team in the following year or next. Not all that different from what we saw after the Cowboys won all those titles in the 90s.
But, win a title or two and those things are many times ok I 'spose. I'm just tired of Big D standing for Drama and have been pleased it's been limited recently.

Drama + Ring >> No Drama + No Ring

One can make the case that they already have the three ring circus if you want to count Tank Johnson.
While Pacman has an awful history with the law, I think he's making it apparent that he really wants to be a football player. The man is foregoing $7 million that is owed to him by the Titans, and he's restructuring his deal with Dallas and will have ZERO guaranteed money.
Not saying it will necessarily work out, but this is such a low risk-high reward scenario for Dallas that I can't imagine a Cowboy fan not being okay with it. If he messes up, cut him. Lose next to no money and they'll be compensated by the Titans in the following year.
Obviously there are some Cowboy fans in this thread. What are your hopes for the draft this weekend? If McFadden falls to 7, I think Jerry is making a run for him. However, I don't think he'll get past 6, and that is okay with me.
If the Roy Williams (WR, Detroit) trade is not done, I would like to see the 22nd pick used on either James Hardy of Indiana or Limas Sweed. I'd then like to trade down with the other pick because there won't be much value at DB there and I am not on the Felix Jones bandwagon. I'd feel better about picking up Jamaal Charles in the second round than Felix Jones in the first.
Thoughts?

Re: Cowboys Acquire Pac Man Jones
I'm not a fan of giving up a lot in this draft to get McFadden, which is what we'd have to do. Dallas needs to address the receiver position, I think it's #1 on the list. Running back isn't even in my top 3.
Get a receiver, add some younger depth to the offensive line, make a grab for a middle linebacker and I'm generally happy. Get a corner/safety than may be ready to play in a year or two - even better. I'd be ok with doing nothing with the running back situation and waiting until the June 1st cuts to see what shakes out.
I think Dallas was a very solid team last year - they just didn't always play disciplined football to show it. The talent is already there and virtually all of it comes back. This draft should be about adding a larger amount of guys that can help fill in spots instead of going after just one guy that can impact a part of the team that really was pretty decent last year.

While we're not desperate for one, we do need one and we don't have many needs elsewhere. We lost our starter. I don't think Dallas is convinced that Barber is going to be an every down back and be very durable because of his style and the fact that he hasn't been "the man" in a system since high school. As I said earlier, my ideal situation is drafting Hardy/Sweed or trading for Roy Williams and trading down with the other since we don't have another desperate need.
As far as OL depth, I think Dallas really likes the depth they have at tackle. Perhaps pick up a guard, but I think we're okay with McQuistan, Free, and Marten.
The only MLB we'll be looking at adding is one that will clear waivers and can be on our practice squad. We have eight linebackers right now that are either going to make the team or be cut. At a minimum, three are MLB. It depends on where you want to count Carpenter since they move him around so much.
I definitely want to see us pick up a DB in the later rounds.
If Wade doesn't make the NFC Championship game at minimum -- perhaps he even has to win it, he is so fired.
PS. Since when is Tyson Smith a Cowboy? I like it.

Re: Cowboys Acquire Pac Man Jones
Tyson has been with the 'Boys a while now I thought - off and on though. Mostly practice squad.
And I won't oppose Wade being shown the door. Odd, I know - being he was the one to "lead" us to a pretty decent season. However, I think Wade looks like he should be selling insurance or on a beach somewhere in Hawaii sipping fruity drinks instead of coaching football.
His laid back approach helped the guys early on in the year - but later it showed that the Cowboys were not disciplined enough on the field to win games when it counted.
