Credits: 127,061 NFL: Lions MLB: Cardinals | Where are you, Cards fans? I have seen surprisingly little trash talk following the Cards' series win over the Cubs this weekend. I heard quite a bit from Cubs fans leading up to this series about how the Cards' strong start was a farce and that this series would prove that the Cards belong in the division cellar. Now that the Cards proved the better, the Cubbies' trash talk is nowhere to be found.
Yes, one series does not a season make, but I should think this proves that the Cards are not going out of this season quietly. Cards should keep pace for most of, if not all, the summer and will be there in the fall. I still think the Cubs will win the division but the Cards did me proud to take 2 of the 3 from "everyone's favorite team." Still 130 games to go, but the Cards are 1.5 games ahead and sitting in first place today and one of only 4 teams in baseball with at least 20 wins.
Go Cards!!! |

I think you owe Dan McCarney a dollar.

Soriano can't catch a fly ball on the run. The only solid arms on the team belong to Zambrano, Marmol, & Dempster.
They keep trotting Wood out to the mound to snatch defeat out of the jaws of sure victory. Marmol should be the closer. You'd have to be as blind as Anne Frank not to see this.
I think the Brewers are due.

That was funny!
I'm a Cards fan but it is way too early to talk trash and they should have taken 2 out of 3 at home. |

Regardless, the Cardinals are playing good baseball now and should be given credit for that. Hopefully the few strings of tendon holding Albert's elbow in place stay together until the offseason. It will be a fun summer.

Ok he's blown 3 saves out of 7 chances but of those 3 they won 2 of those games and the 3rd one Soriano got a bad jump on a fly ball and another just got past Fukudome. Would you rather see Wood come in with runners on in a tight game in the 7th or 8th instead of Marmol? I'm not ready to kick Wood out of the closer's spot just yet. He's new to the role so let's give him a few more chances before pulling the plug.
I'm more frustrated with Soriano right now. Lou is too stubborn to move him down in the lineup. The offense was really hitting well without him and I think since he's been back it's really affected the offense in a bad way. I like what Morgan was saying last night about the Cubs should do what the Cardinals and Brewers are doing and bat the pitcher 8th and put Soriano 9th as sort of a 2nd leadoff hitter. That would put Johnson and Theriot back at the top where they belong. Even Fukudome would make for a nice #2 hitter. Soriano is too much of a free swinger to be batting leadoff. Amazing how Lou can tolerate his $136 mil man struggling but had no second thoughts about demoting Hill and pulling him in the 1st inning in his last start. |
