I don't see anything wrong with teams not offering contracts to players because of thier past. I mean if I had something in my past that could prohibit me from getting a job, can I file a grievance against that place of business? Personally, I'd be fine to not see Bonds in a uniform again.

Barry Bonds just wants 3000 hits. If some team signed him, I bet he'd retire immediately following his 3000th hit. He'd probably ask for a pinch-runner.

The reason the Union is investigating is that it appears the teams are talking to each other about if they are going after guys and what they may offer. It isn't just Bonds but pretty much any Scott Boras client as well, see Jeff Weaver. It's collusion and it's illegal...

So, trying to find out if other teams are going to sign a certain player is now illegal? Obtaining that type of information does not prevent a team from offering a contract.

The problem is that these veterans will command too much money for their diminished skills. Not only that, but as mentioned before, does it really make sense to sign a clubhouse cancer to a team and overpay them? If I'm known to be disruptive in clubhouses or I'm demanding $75,000 when my skills only warrant about a $50,000, does it make sense for an employer to offer me a job?
