I guess I don't know why you say that... there are only 14 in existence... and I would guess many of them aren't around any more... Doesn't that make it valuable?

The reason that a ball would be valuable is if it is involved in setting some sort of record or breaking some historical landmark statistic (i.e. 500/600/700th HR, someone's 3000th hit, etc.). While an unassisted triple-play is quite rare, it's hardly a record or an historic achievement, IMO. Also, the last one is already in the HOF, so they probably wouldn't be that interested in having another ball for the exact same thing.

Plus, it holds pretty much no prestige compared to record setting memorabilia. Imagine telling someone, "this ball was involved in the 14th unassisted triple-play in MLB history." Doesn't have quite the same ring as, "this is the ball that (insert name here) hit to break the all-time HR record."

To me, this baseball would rank slightly above a foul ball I might catch at any MLB game in terms of value.

I turned one in Little League once - similar situation only I was playing first base.

I was the chubby kid, so I had to understand what was going on and I didn't trust my arm to throw the ball to second base after catching a line drive and stepping on first, so I ran over and stepped on the bag...those were the glory days!
