Must be a really slow day in sports if something as worthless as a Chicago Cubs discussion consumes 4 (or more) pages.......haha!

As a Cards fan, it will be quite strange watching Edmonds in a Cubs uniform. He will struggle in every game, except against the Cards, when he will hit 3 home runs every time and rob our hitters of at least one home run of our own each time. Why do I get this feeling too? Jason Marquis? idk, seems like everyone that leaves us, comes back and has success on a solo level against us...Good news is, I don't think we play Toronto this year: Rolen and Eckstein coming up against us...ugh.
I think this is a very short term success thing Chicago is looking for. Edmonds is obvs. a quick fix to get Pie some minor league work in (which IS the right move.) Yeah his bat is not as powerful and he doesn't have the range he once did in the outfield, but he is still a useful player.

Edmonds immediately gets to win over Cubs fans everywhere - starting CF today, hitting 6th behind Kosuke. Only time will tell...

I thought the plan was to move Fukudome to #2 in the order and put Edmonds @ #5...
What's the deal!?!

Can you really move down Theriot who is hitting .338 and been such a huge catalyst? I like this for now. But i'm sure they'll look at everything... i think this thread suggested moving KF to #2...

What's the deal!?! I said it last year and I'll say it this year: why isn't Soriano batting in the five hole? He'd probably have double the number of RBI's if he wasn't hitting leadoff.

Who else leads off? Theriot never excelled at it, Reed Johnson is better at the bottom turning over the lineup.

THey're right. It seems to defy logic, but he plays a lot better when he bats leadoff. He's not a traditional leadoff guy by any means.
I think that's kind of Theriot's role. Soriano does whatever happens (hopefully something electrifying), and then Theriot starts the order from the #2 spot.

I think if Soriano stuck with hitting lower in the order he'd be fine. They moved him out of the leadoff spot for a whole 2 games this year. Its so wasteful to have him hitting leadoff homers when he could be hitting those with runners on base.
