Prince Fielder Cannot Be Happy

ESPN - Brewers lock up Braun through 2015 with $45 million deal - MLB

After he asks to negotiate an extension they won't, then the sign Braun to an eight year deal with less service time? Seems like a slap in the face...

Maybe Braun was a little more reasonable when it came to money.

I would think he was more reasonable he is making only 5.6 million a year. That is nothing for a guy who will hit 25+ HR's and have around a 100 RBI's each year.

He took a HUGE hometown discount.

Re: Prince Fielder Cannot Be Happy

8 Years is a nice little guarantee for a guy with less than a year of MLB time. The Brewers wouldn't even go to the table with Prince, so how would they know what he was wanting?

Re: Prince Fielder Cannot Be Happy

The thing is, that was a smart move with Braun, provided he learn's to play defense. I think he could have gotten more than that on the market, with his prodigious power.

That is kind of a surprising move... I would have liked to see more from Braun before giving him a long term deal, but maybe they think that they need to lock him in so they don't lose him.

The smart move is that they avoid arbitration, where he could make alot more. They still have him for two more years at the adjusted minimum before arbitration. It's actually only about a three year extension...

The problem isn't Fielder, the problem is Rosenhouse (sp?) his agent. His agent doesn't want to go to the table to negotiate. Its not all the brewers fault here.

If his agent isn't willing to go to the table, than how can he expect a deal to be made? The tooth fairy?
