Pistons fire Flip Saunders
No source yet... just all over the radio here in Detroit. It's official.
Not making too big of a splash though, he never really had a whole lot of fans here. They're still focused on the amazing hockey game last night.

Re: Pistons fire Flip Saunders
I've always thought he was an overrated coach. He seems to care more about his appearance than how his team is doing. Hell, after every timeout, he struts out to half court with his arms crossed. It's like he wants the eyes of the world on him.

Re: Pistons fire Flip Saunders
There was talk of him coaching the Gophers when he was done in the pros, but not now that Tubby is there.
I think he'd be a great college coach.

It's amazing to me how coaches are disgarded so often in the NBA. If Rip and Billups are 100% they may be in the finals. The GM gets no heat for having an aging roster and few capable backups...

He's one of the coaches that doesn't draw attention to himself. He rarely gets "T'd" up, something which the fans really disliked here in Detroit. They wanted him to be more animated.
During the timeouts... he goes out onto the court to meet with his assistants, and let the players catch a 10 second breather before he hits them with a play.

A timeout happens. He crosses his arms. Walks to half court with his head in the air. Stands there for a second. Fixes his tie and than goes back. It's like it's his runway.

The only reason he still has a job is because Glen Taylor doesn't think Fred is quite ready to fill the spot. As soon as he is, bye bye Kevin. I hope Fred is a quick learner and I only have to suffer as a T-Wolves fan for one more season under KM.

NBA coaches are a dime a dozen...they are now firing coaches after 1 year (Bobcats). Why not fire a coach whose worse finish is a loss in the conference finals?

Re: Pistons fire Flip Saunders
I don't see why you fire a coach who takes your team to the playoffs every year. Pretty dumb if you ask me.

Re: Pistons fire Flip Saunders
Larry Brown should have waited to see what was up with the Pistons before he took the Charlotte job - he would make the Pistons NBA champs again, instead of having to work for someone more bumbling than Kevin McKale - Michael Jordan.
