Imus comments about Dallas' Jones cause uproar


A little over a year after being fired for making racially insensitive comments about Rutgers women's basketball players, radio host Don Imus may have stepped into a new controversy.
On his Monday radio program "Imus in the Morning," he responded to a story about suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones wanting to drop his well-known nickname "Pacman."
During the segment, Imus was told by anchor Warner Wolf that Jones has "been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005."
Imus asked, "What color is he?"
"He's African-American," Wolf replied.
"Well, there you go," Imus said. "Now we know."
After being fired, Imus returned to the airwaves months later under the auspices of Citadel Broadcasting Corp, with national distribution by ABC Radio Networks. A video simulcast is also broadcast on RFD-TV.
Phil Boyce, program director at WABC-AM, said the station is aware of the comments. He said Imus will explain what he meant Tuesday morning on his radio show.
The segment appears to have had a common theme with earlier segments. While talking about Tiger Woods winning the U.S. Open, Imus asked about the race of runner-up Rocco Mediate.

This story is pretty tame, but why would he even say this when he knows there are people ready to nail him? He should have a big bold sign right above his mic that says, "DON'T MENTION RACE!"

he claims that he meant the only reason pacman was being picked on was because he was black. whether or not that's true, only he knows, but that is his excuse.
