Spending some more time on the treadmill earlier in his career may have been able to keep him out of the OR too.
I dunno - Back when I was a huge fan of the Magic in the '90s it was said the guy could run with the guards during conditioning. I'd say his knee problems had more to do with him being a lean 315-330 the first half of his playing career that destroyed his knees more than him not hitting the treadmill. That or being an aged professional athlete (as most of them have knee problems).
