Crystal ball: August 12: Jason Marquis placed on DL (suck).
OK Cubs fans, you have no excuse not to win it all this year.
Cubs also signed their first round pick today.

This is an excellent trade for the Cubs.
I'm not going to say hand them the trophy now (Harden's been on the DL 9 times, he averages less than 6 innings per start), but they just became the overwhelming favorite.
I haven't a clue why any Cub fan is upset about losing Murton. He was probably the least valuable that they gave up.
I don't know how they got Gaudin out of that too.

They can take Murton only because this guy wasn't getting the playing time he deserves. But to give up Patt and Gall, I would've been hesitant. Sad to see them go.

Marquis to the DL could be a great deal because we all know how he pitches after the Break!

The A's fire sale begins. Look for them to trade Embree, Street, and release or trade Brown and Foulke.

The only part I would be upset with is that now it confirms that the Cubs are having to put their faith with Theriot and Cedeno. Not the either of them have shown not to believe in them so far this year, but not the two canidates that I would put my money down on. Although Patt was still young, I think he showed more upside than both of those guys. I have feeling that come next year or there shortly after, the Cubs will be looking for a calibur SS/2B.
This does ensure DeRosa's role as 2B for this year and next!
EDIT: Sorry for the spelling.

Well, this kills the momentum of my Brewers getting Sabathia. Good trade for the Cubs as long as he stays healthy. This is going to be an exciting battle the rest of the way for the division between the Cubs, Brewers, and Cardinals.

With the Cubs getting Harden and the Brewers getting Sabathia in the last two days, my tickets for Sept. 16 Cubs vs. Brewers at Wrigley are looking pretty good right now...

I am absolutely perplexed about why Beane took that deal. Especially over three weeks before the deadline. Did he think that he wouldn't get a better offer for that? Really? When the team controls Harden through 2009?
Pure speculation here, but I would not be shocked if he's not 100% healthy. It would not be the first time Beane traded damaged goods to Chicago.
