Predicted starters: Sean Marshall vs Seth McClung

Even if that's the match-up, any day at Wrigley is a good day.

Your correct. Any day at Wrigley is a good day. I'll be there on Thursday, although I am upset that Z's start got moved from Thursday to Wednesday for some reason.

I really didn't see the Cards in it late in the year before either of these trades were made. Either way, I still think the Cubs have the better team, but the Brewers will win the wild card.

i didnt see the cards competing down the strech either, but the last two days have sealed their fate as the 3rd place team i think

CC just gave up 2 more runs ....

Wouldn't mind seeing him lose his first with the crew.

I wish Jim Hendry was as good at off season deals as he was at mid-season deals. Hendry has a pretty good resume for acquiring players before the deadline. I guess in the off-season he thinks it's just all about throwing a massive amount of money at people instead of coming up with a creative trade scenario.

Re: Cubs Reported to have traded for Harden

I am a little disappointed that we had to give up Gallagher, as I think we will be a solid 4 or 5 starter in the coming years... But I am hopeful that this trade will pan out successfully.

I think this will be good for Murton and Patterson's career. With Soriano and Fukudome, Murton just didn't fit for the Cubs anymore... And between Reed Johnson and Edmonds centerfield is covered (at least for the rest of this year).

Hopefully by next season Pie can get his head screwed on straight.

You're disappointed that you gave up a 4 or 5 starter for Rich Harden?

If Gallagher doesn't become a 2 or a 3, Oakland got hosed.

They also have Carpenter coming back. I will not count the Cards out until they are officially eliminated. Dave Duncan and Tony LaRussa are very good at what they do.

I was suprised Pie wasn't part of the deal instead of Patterson. Unless the Cubs think Felix will develop given more time...but they all but named him the starter this year and he fell flat on his face.

All in all, a good trade for the Cubs. Murton and Patterson would likely only be career bench players in Chicago with what they have now and the money they have to acquire players. I liked Gallagher's potential but I think Marshall will be a solid 4 or 5 too.

I think thats exactly why Pie wasn't involved. Patterson actually started showing signs of being able to play everday in the big leagues, Pie has faltered every time he's gotten the chance. Pie's value has gone down and until his rebirth comes along, the Cubs will never get the value for him that they once could.

I liked Gallagher, I thought he had potential, and I am sorry to see him go. As with any trade you never know until time passes if it was worth it or not.
