I do respect the fact the Packers stood by their new guy. That took some guts and a strong spine.
At least both sides got what they wanted eventually. The Packers also will get a draft pick and save some money is salary. Brett gets to keep on playing. Good post. I don't hold anything against the Pack being loyal to their new QB. But I do firmly believe it won't work out just how they've planned/expect.

Re: Vikings calling out Rodgers
This is all head games by the Vikings. Anything to win and try to shake the confidence of a new QB. The Pack let Favre go for a reason - and the only reason that makes sense is Rodgers play.
Rodgers likely won't replicate Favre's 07/08 season, but I'm fairly confident he'll be better than Jackson and hope management is right that he's the QB of the future, at least the immediate future.
Oh, and there's a reason Vike fans only talk of getting to the Superbowl, not winning it. IIRC, Vikes SB record = 0-4. Pack SB record = 3-1. With numerous NFL titles before that.

I remember those 1970s teams... Ah the days.....
Oh wait, I was born in 1984 so I don't... We just don't get all hyped for the superbowl because we've been dissapointed before...
Also, a lot of us talk to just getting to the superbowl because during most of my tenure as a Vikings fan (the 1990s), they made the playoffs pretty much every year. The Superbowl was the next step.

Yeah - I was just talkin' smack - should have let it go. My wife's family is all from Minnesota so we have a lot of "spirited discussions". The last Super Bowl party my in-laws held when the Vikes played ended with my father in-law throwing all of his Viking paraphenalia out the front door and into a snow bank. I honestly felt sorry for him.

I am not a Vikings fan, but I think they have built a really good team for this season. GB is not going to be good, Dallas and NY will be good - but their division is tough and they will be beat up all year. NFC North is HORRIBLE and the Vikings should be able to get home field advantage. They have a good Defense and the Best O-Line in the NFL and will the best running back in the NFC. If Jackson matures he will be fine.

I think it's conceivable (not likely, but very possible) the team that won the Super Bowl last season could finish last in the East. I base that a lot on how fragile I still find Eli and the Giants to be.

I think MN will be good, but their schedule isn't that easy. They have to play against Indy,at Jacksonville, at NO (I think they will be much much much improved), at Tampa Bay, and the Giants.
I can already see 5 possible losses and I don't think beating the Pack or the Lions twice is a shoe-in.
I love the Vikes and I think they will be good, but I'm not going to say they are getting the best NFC record....
I do love the optimism though!

Unless TJ has a damn good game, I don't see the Vikes going to Jacksonville and winning in almost any scenario. That should be a fun running game vs defense battle to watch.

Brett Farve will miss week 2 of the season, after the Jets beat the Dolphins in week 1 and he watches monday nights game he will pull a stomach muscle from laughing so hard at Rodgers and his former teammates. After watching Seattle's first team offense move the ball at will against the Vikings' first team defense last weekend, I wouldn't be making any promises. And this is coming from a lifelong Vikings fan.
