What happened??

I don't follow the Chiefs, but I was under the impression that they had a loyal following. Are they struggling at the box office or are they just trying to pile on the cash?

The article says KC has the third largest stadium in the NFL and has ranked in the top 3 of attendance for 20 years.

They are also doing a 3 year $375 million renovation to the stadium which is why they are looking to sell the rights.

It has nothing to do with loyalty of their fan base. Everyone is starting to do this and if you don't you are giving up free money. Even the cubs will be considering selling the naming rights to Wrigley Field in the next year or so.
