Yes... I know the Cardinals one a World Series recently... Congratulations to you... Maybe you feel inferior becuase the Cubs still have better following than the Cardinals. Well, whatever you have, it's obviously a problem with Cardinals fans. Sheesh. Why would I have to be a fan of the Cubs to know that the people who booed are jackasses?
I never said you have to be happy about it. I said booing was classless under the circumstances--and you might have noticed that the booers were in the vast minority.
Oh wait--is your oversensitivity, by any chance, fueled by too much beer? Just curious.

Nobody cares.

You disagree. Fine. Consider me despicable. Wait, I missed the memo that it was the Cubs year to win it all...
There's 7 other teams out there. The fact that it has been 100 years has no impact, and I can guarantee you it is no one team's year.

Re: WOW!
This thread is funny. As a lifelong Dodger fan (I remember Gibson's HR clearly in '88), I checked in to see how people would reply to the game. I know it is a short series, but the Cubs are still a good team.
What floored me was the absolute lack of respect for the opposition. Over and over, it was "Lou blew it, he shoulda pulled the pitcher", or "the team was flat, uninspired, and couldn't hit." What about the starting pitcher? Derek Lowe was great, and has pitched great the last month of the season. The Dodger offense has really picked up. Manny is hitting about .400 since he became a Dodger. To me, if the Dodgers are hitting well, they have a great chance to win the World Series. I could care less about their, or the Cubs, regular season record. 97 wins is meaningless in the post season.
Sometimes you tip your hat to the opposition. Instead this thread has turned into a Cards/Cubs smackoff. And did someone seriously say the Cubs are a better team because they have a better following, or more people root for them than the Cards? Charles Manson had a great following too, and people read magazines every day because Brittany Spears is on the cover. Think about it.

It should be a good playoffs this year, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see them replay the '59 WS this year.
I'll say right now, there's numerous Cubs I like, including Dempster, Cotts, DeRosa and Lee. And if it wasn't for their fans and the media bias towards them, I'd have no problem with them winning it. Hell, your manager is one of the very best. But it'd be the knob-slobbering that'd follow that irritates the hell out of me.
It's kind of neat entering the playoffs with no expectation. I'm going to be disappointed with every game we lose, sure, but it's almost like the pressure is off at this point. Much different than 05 when we were the best team in baseball all year long, which is close to what the Cubs are this year. I'd lean towards the Angels, but the Cubs are going to be a disappointment with anything less than a pennant.

The home run by Loney was HUGE. Dempster helped by walking a bunch, but the Dodgers cashed in.
Hopefully we can make it a bit more interesting tomorrow night.

Hopefully we can make it a bit more interesting tomorrow night. Grand slams in DS games when you're down by two tend to be real momentum-changers..... -

Well, for every good play, there's usually a mistake on the otherside. Good teams take advantage of their oppenents mistakes.
I don't think it's a lack of respect of the Dodgers. IMO, they are the team of the 3 in the NL that I least want to face.
They piled on like a good team should with their 3 runs later in the game. And the the 4 run dinger. But part of getting those3 base runners were two walks, I believe. Now you can credit the hitters for being patient and all. But when it comes to putting guys on base via the walk, there's usually one place to point the finger.

He needs to get the ring that was denied to him when he was exiled to Cleveland for the WS year. He just missed the oldest MLB player to get a hit record, but it only takes one good swing.
