I swear he looked like he had nodded off more than once when the camera zoomed in on him. This is one reason he had to leave the Yankees. He fell asleep in the dugout holding his lucky bat. Sometimes I couldn't believe it.

On second thought being a Yankee fan would probably cause you a heart attack, either from the stress brought on from fans of other teams or the excitment of winning a world series.

I hope Torre wins it all, and to make it even more fun, beats the red sox in the series.

Re: Cancel my reservations !
While it is true that the Cards had a rough year and the Cubs are significantly better, I do find it quite entertaining that the team that was "destined" to win the World Series this year is on the verge of another first-round sweep. If the shoe were on the other foot, Cubs fans, I guarantee you'd be laughing at the Cards, too. It's the way a rivalry works.

I agree with this statement 100%. Most of my friends are scrubs fans, and are telling me to quit jumping on the Dodger's bandwagon. I am not a Dodger's fan, just a fan of Cubs misery. I totally agree the scrubs fans would be laughing thier butts off at the Cards if the Cards were about to get swept. -
Re: Cancel my reservations !
Man, you guys are unbelievable! You still have a chance to beat the boys in blue and bring the series back to Chicago, but you make it sound like someone blew up the team charter and everybody is dead. To me being a fan is believing the impossible can happen, that no matter how bad things get, your team still has a chance, not deserting a sinking ship like a bunch of rats. Admittedly, I'm a Dodger fan, and have been one since I started playing and following baseball in the early 60's. While I may have seen a couple of World Series championship teams, I've also had some droughts to cope with. I'm also a Titans fan, and have been one long enough to remember when they were the Oilers and were the second best team in the NFL year after year, always dominating the regular season, and then getting beat out in the playoffs, usually in the AFC Championship by the mighty Steelers. I watched my teams succeed in the regular season only to have them fall on their faces in the playoffs. Do you realize how many years it's been since the Dodgers won a playoff game, let alone a series. Still, every year I believe that this is the year. Most every year I'm wrong, but it sure feels great when I'm not, like when a guy who could barely walk came up against the most dominant reliever of his time... Oh yeah, I still think the Cyclones can win the Big 12. I'm not saying they will, but they can. I'm not saying to go bet the farm on the Cubbies or the 'Clones, but don't give up hope. If you do, you'll feel cheated and unloyal when they do, and believe me, they will!! -

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I'm actually rooting for the cubs as I have a lot of friends that are really into them, but the overconfidence going into the playoffs was a little amusing. -

Months ago I predicted the Cubs would do something like this. While not a far-fetched prediction - folks certainly didn't like to hear it.

Coming from a Dodgers fan - THIS SERIES IS NOT OVER.
Harden vs Kuroda on Saturday. Kuroda is a 50/50 pitcher. He can dominate and does so about half the time (in fact, he shut the Cubs down earlier this year). We all know what Harden can do. Cubs can win.
If so, Lilly vs Lowe (on three days rest on Sunday). Lowe has a great history in the playoffs and pitching on short rest - but if the Cubs can somehow pull out a victory - and it's possible - the series moves back to Chicago.
Where it will likely be Dempster versus Billingsley and, theoritically at least, Wrigley will be rocking.
Not to mention, the Cubs did win four in a row against LA earlier. This series is still up for grabs.

The thread is headed down this path with the Cub fans, either way this is hilarious:

Re: Cancel my reservations !
Here's a short excerpt on Kuroda from Kuroda can send Dodgers into NLCS | dodgers.com: News
He's 9-10 with a 3.73 ERA, eating up 183 1/3 innings, even with a short stint on the disabled list. He's been unbeatable at times, becoming the first Dodgers starter to throw two shutouts in the same season since 2005 (the second a one-hitter), but he's also had five starts in which he couldn't finish four innings.
Kuroda was very much on in his two starts against the Cubs this year. He was tagged with a tough loss at Wrigley Field on May 27, allowing one earned run in 6 1/3 innings. Ten days later at home, he shut out the Cubs on four hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks, one of his two shutouts this season.
