Based on that, I doubt a Phillies-Rays Series would be a disaster. Obviously times are completely different now than in 1980! Cable television! College football seemingly televised every night. Those two things by themselves make a dent in the World Series ratings. A Phillies-Rays series would not attract very many viewers west of the Mississippi.

I watched the American League playoffs for the first time all October tonight, just to watch the Rays play.
I don't plan on missing a single out of the World Series.
