There will be at least 3 in Detroit that want looks and one of them isn't the brightest about playing well with others.
Besides, Rip is a better verison of Iverson anyway ... is AI going to play role of pass first point guard in Detroit???? really!?!?
Rip 2007-2008: 17.3 ppg, 3.3 Reb per game, 4.2 assists per game, 1 steal per game
AI 2007-2008: 26.4 ppg, 3.0 Reb per game, 7.1 assists per game, 2 steals per game
Iverson was 3rd in points, 9th in assists, 8th in steals last year. Rip wasn't in the top 10 in any of those stats.
Iverson would help the Pistons....

Iverson would help the Pistons.... stats are misleading. different offense styles, conferences, and needs from the team.

What shocked me this morning was to hear that there are actually teams contemplating a trade for Stephon Starburry... Now that guy is a worthless piece...

You'd think Denver would have learned about cap space after they locked up Nene and had to dump Marcus Camby because of it.
Chauncey is a pretty good clutch player, and I don't think Iverson is even close to a perfect fit for Detroit. But when you think about the cap space that Detroit is getting, it seems like a really good deal for them.

This is a great trade for both teams. Pistons needed a scorer and Nuggets needed a PG. I also do not think that Iverson is a distraction. There are not too many players that play harder night in and night out than Allen Iverson.

I'd like to see the Bulls go after Iverson.. they just don't have enough guards right now...

The bulls are really weird. They have alot of really good players, but they just dont fit together well. They have too many good players at one position and have too many good roll players and not enough scorers.

I'm really falling off the Paxson bandwagon. The Ben Wallace contract, which forced him to take on Larry Hughes' contract, trading Aldridge for Thomas, not going balls out for Garnett, etc.

Yeah they really need a dominate rebounder and big man inside to challenge a team like the Celtics.

Here's a good article regarding this trade: Pistons' trade of Billups, McDyess for Iverson nearly complete - Detroit Pistons Basketball: News, Blogs, Photos, Audio, Schedule & Stats - MLive.com For Detroit, the trade has several ramifications now as well as for the franchise's future.
By trading away Billups and McDyess for Iverson, the Pistons would shave about $34 million off their books in salary over the next three seasons. Billups makes $11.05 million this season and has another three years remaining on his contract that's worth about $40 million, while McDyess will make about $6.8 million and he has another year after this season for a similar amount. Iverson is in the last year of his deal which pays $20.84 million this season.
The trade also provides Detroit with a dynamic player who has been among the league's top players for more than a decade, and will surely help get a few more warm bodies in The Palace. | | |

I think this trade helps the Nuggets.
Now they need to dump Nene and George Karl

I guess what I'm saying is that Iverson is one of the best offensive players in the NBA period. He also now ranks among the tops in point guards for assists and steals. He's a high impact player on both ends of the court.
Hamilton can shoot the ball and can put up some points, but that's about it.
For example, Hamilton is 6'6 and gets only 3 boards a game, while Iverson is 6'0 on a good day and gets the same amount.
When I compare the two players, I feel like Hamilton allows for things to happen, while Iverson MAKES things happen.
Anyhow, what's wrong with having two good players on the same team? If you're going to say that Iverson is like a Hamilton, isn't Billups like a Hamilton as well?:
Billups 2007-2008 stats: 17 points, 6.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals
That looks a lot like Hamilton's: 17 points, 4.2 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.0 steals?
To me, it looks like the Pistons had two "Richard Hamiltons" and now have a Richard Hamilton AND a player much better than Richard Hamilton.
As far as my "stats" not making sense. Lets wait and see what Iverson's numbers are with the Pistons when he starts playing. I'd guess he'd get over 20 points, about 7 assists, 2 steals, and about 3 rebounds a game...
