Smardzija has a no trade clause. He is not going anywhere.

I don't think they will package Smardzija with it. It is going to be an intersting off season. I am not happy MLB said they won't pass a Mark Cuban purchase of the Cubs

If the Cubs move Lee, it will be to make room for Micah Hoffpauir. He doesn't provide the Gold Glove Potential of Lee, but is a lefty bat they need in the line-up and would provide some cost savings for other moves.

He would definately waive it, a chance to be a No 2-3 starter or another role in the pen 5-6 starter... He could have the team built around him... I don't see any attractive package the Cubs can put together for the Padres to accept that DOESN'T include Samrdzija...

Keep in mind the San Diego ballpark is a pitchers park. Not true at Wrigley. Plus, Peavy won't be doing the bulk of his pitching against the NL West, a notoriously weak hitting division. If I were the Cubs I'd be careful what I wished for.
On the other hand, Jake has been the nemesis of the Dodgers. Wouldn't mind seeing him out of the division.

and i agree that pitching wasnt exactly the achilles heel of this team.
the other day on waddle and silvy, they were playing would you rather, and a good one came up. would you rather have CC or MAnny on your team. as a cubs fan, i would like to have manny's hitting, tho i could do without his antics. too bad hes not going to leave LA unless he goes to NY.

This is coming from a Dodger fan of 40 years. I will be stunned if Manny ends up anywhere besides in NY pinstripes. I hope I'm wrong and he stays in L.A., but just don't see it.
Oh no, we suck again.

The Padres won't get rid of Gonzalez, they are building the team around him, they aren't interested in getting older...

thats fire It'd be fun to look and see Lilly as the fifth starter. He's solid, and that staff can dominate.

Smadzija will gladly waive his no trade clause to get out of the bullpen....
