Re: Mike Taylor Outplaying Eric Gordon

I am happy for Mike, he seems to have things put back together in his life. And this is why I have faith in McD's talent eye and recruiting.

-keep.

I think he was saying he plays D like Kobe, In SPURTS....(I still don't agree with the comment but I think thats what they ment)

Kobe is a great defense player.

I took it as him saying that Kobe only plays defense in spurts when that is not the case. You don't get to be all NBA defense 3 years straight by only playing defense half the time

To be honest, I haven't been a Eric Gordon fan since he dropped his commitment to Illinois to go play at Indiana with a coach that had questionable recruitments practices. He could have stood to have a few more years of basketball development in the NCAA and it shows with his play compared to a more veteran Taylor.

At Iowa State it was pretty much the first time Mike played PG. Not a shock he is picking it up well.

Clearly the best ISU basketball talent in a LONG time.

Watching him, Wes, Lucca, Brackins all on the floor at the same time would have been fun.

Go Clones! Go Knights!

Re: Mike Taylor Outplaying Eric Gordon

Ditto the Kobe -I think LeBron is the better comparison, he doesn't play as much D. Kobe is tenacious on both ends pretty consistently -especially in the Olympics this year...

Taylor was an enigma. One night you would be cheering him, the next night yelling at him. He had talent though, and man was he a competitor. Glad he is doing well. I never saw that Gordon guy as anything all that special. I guess it is just me.

On the other thing, is Kobe the most complete player in the NBA today? Maybe Tim Duncan is the next best. He seems to be able to score, defend, and rebound very well.

Not smoking anything. I never said Kobe wasn't a good defender. But, look what he did in the Olympics when he didn't have to do all the scoring. His man was lucky to get a shot off. My point was that when you have to carry the offense, your defense struggles.

But his doesn't. He has been 1st Team NBA defense 3 years running. 6 times in his career.

Relative to the level he can play at on defense, it does.

Here, maybe this will more clearly illustrate my point:

on a scale of 1 to 100.

When carrying the offense, Kobe is a 90 defender, when he doesn't have to carry the offense he is a 99 defender.

When carrying the offense, Mike T is a 70 defender, when he doesn't have to carry the offense he is a 85 defender.

I'd say LeBron is up there too - Kobe is a better defender but LeBron is better at setting up teammates.

Not that this matters much, but Gordon grew up a indiana fan and would have committed to them much earlier had davis not been the head coach. When sampson took over gordon got what he wanted all along which was to play for indiana,
