Yes. That was probably the stupidest thing I have ever seen on a message board..... well that and the posters who thought we wouldn't miss Stinson.

You can often tell somebody that didn't play basketball or doesn't understand the game by their obsession with minute details and stats about players that tell nothing about their importance to the team.... the obsession with Taylor's TOs (and before him Stinson's) is a glaring example.

Here is an obscure one.... Zach Fortune against BYU at the tourney in Hawaii Tinsley's SR year. We don't win the game if he doesn't go off from 3-point land.... then he transfers to USD and ends up tragically dying young.

Don't forget Mike followed up his 25 point second half against Minnesota in '06 by scoring 22 points, drilling 6 threes and recording 7 assists in the first half against Lake Superior State. That display was almost as impressive. If you were to add up those two halves together..here's what his box score would have looked like.

39 minutes, 16-25 FG, 12-15 3 PT FG, 12 assists, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, 47 points.

You said "against Lake Superior State" and "impressive" in the same sentence...almost.

Please don't demean Willoughby. Talk about great Cyclone shooters...

Well, he made two 3's that game. But, I suppose that was as much "going off" as he ever did as a Cyclone...

Lafester Rhodes line in the Iowa game (45 minutes with OT): 20-31 FG, 5-8 3 PT FG, 9-12 FG for 54 points, 5 assists, 14 rebounds and only 1 TO. they knew he was going to shoot and still couldn't stop him. He also didn't do it against the school for the blind. I know you will say it was "only Iowa", but that team had 4 players that later played in the NBA in Roy Marble, Bill Jones, B.J. Armstrong and Ed Horton. I liked what Mike could do, but noone at ISU has had a single game to top that night!

We watched it in a hotel in CR as my sister got married to my undergrad roomy that weekend. We were in a hotel room with 22 people watching the game. The tub was full of snow and beer. There was only one Hawk fan in the room, but we let her stay because she hated Jeff Moe!

I would never demean him, he's one of my all time favorites... probably number 2 behind Fred.

I'm just saying that minutes on the 08-09 Clippers is a lot easier than if his contract was with a even mildly competitive team. (ala the Tim Floyd era Bulls and their multiple free agent pickups nobody had heard of ... expect their college fans)

Clearly the best ISU basketball talent in a LONG time.

Watching him, Wes, Lucca, Brackins all on the floor at the same time would have been fun.

That almost brought a tear to my eye. Seeing that bunch, healthy, in the first year I was able to buy season tickets. Man, that would have been a special team. Jiri as a role player instead of a centerpiece. Man, that team would've been fun to watch!!

Those players combined with Dr. Tom's system were an awesome experience! Back in those days, it seemed like we were always ranked (I was young. It seemed that way), they were always ranked, and I just assumed it always was that way. Ouch!

This is going to be a fun year!! I think we're on the way back to it again.
