Kerry Wood has been on a one-year contract for at least the past 4 years, I wouldn't worry about it. I hope if Gregg remembers that home run that SuperButt hit off him in Miami?

I think there is a good chance this is the first part of a trade for Peavy. The cubs didn't have what the Padres demanded, which was a pitcher, so they had to involve another team to get that pitcher. This "could" be that part they needed. He would then go on to the Padres.

Right, but Peavy is a starter, and Wood and Gregg were/are both closers. The only way that would work would be if they included another starter in the deal, Marquis or Marshall possibly. The Padres do need a closer....

I hate to see Wood go so this better mean that Hendry is planning to use that cash he could have used on Wood to address some needs that will get this team past the 1st round in the playoffs.

We just traded for the guy that blew the most saves in all of Baseball last year, while he wasn't even a closer for the last month? How does this even make sense?

I'm sure that's the plan. I'm sad to seek Woods go, but a 3 or 4 year contract is probably not a good investment at this point in his career. We did that with Sammy Sosa and got burned.

Fukudome was home sick this year. No doubt about it. If we have the same problem with him next year, then I'll agree with you.

I know Soriano was hurt both years but 70 and 75 RBIs is not what I expected for a guy that got a huge contract. I don't care what anyone thinks, get a true leadoff hitter and move Soriano down and tell him to figure it out even if he starts hitting .200 at first because he's too much of a free swinger to be batting leadoff and his HR usually go to waste in that slot too. Fukudome needs to find the swing that was working earlier in the year because he got Soriano disease by July and started swinging at every bad pitch too and when he missed it was UGLY! That stupid twirl thing he does needs to stop. Send him down to AAA to start the year if you have to.
