White Sox Trade Swisher to Yankees

ESPN - Sources: New York Yankees acquire Nick Swisher from Chicago White Sox

Interesting...Kenny must have given up his "grinder" mission?

As a White Sox fan, I certainly hope there is more to that deal.

Didn't the Sox bench Nick Swisher at the end of the season?

Swisher in New York = bad news. He might party himself out of baseball...

I don't understand the trade, this guy isn't going to fill in for Abreu in Right. The Yankees have more outfielders then a Fantasy Owner knows what to do with.

Not to mention he was having problems with the Chicago media.

For the love of God, there has to be more to this trade. We bought high on Swisher, and not we are selling low? That's very unlike Kenny Williams.

I'm disappointed. Despite his season, I liked Swisher. I assume this means we'll be keeping Dye unless we're planning a huge change.

Sounds like Wilson Betemit was involved.

I might vomit.

Regardless of who was involved, that was beyond stupid on the Yankees' part. Even if they shipped Betemit off in the deal, they got nothing out of it to make it worthwhile.

They got a switch hitter with 30 HR potential who can play 4 positions.

We got a utility player who doesn't get on base 29% of the time. If Betemit is our opening day 3B, I am actually going to cry. I really will.

Swisher is a career .244 batter with 100 HR's.

If this is a sign of what the Yankees are going to do this offseason, i may be sick.

They got enough guys to hit the ball out of the country. They need to find some guys that can hit .300 year in and year out so it's not all solo shots. I thought Robinson Cano was this person but last year led me to a different opinion. Hopefully he bounces back.

And his career OPS is over .800 and that was with the vast majority of his career being in a pitcher's park.

He's not going to any All Star games, but he's versatile, signed for 3 more years, and is not expensive.

They gave up WILSON BETEMIT for him. They bought low. The White Sox just acquired a worse version of Juan Uribe for Nick Swisher, whom they traded their farm team for last winter.

The White Sox got freaking ripped off. The only way this makes sense to me is if they plan on making a splash in free agency.
