Pujols amended his statement from a few years ago and said that players who take their teams to the playoffs should get additional consideratoin for awards. Also, Pujols has been quoted recently, saying "Howard deserved the honor in 06."

What someone says initially, without mincing words, are usually their true feelings. I don't put much stock into "amended" statements.

He aced his U.S. citizenship test. I have a BA and MA in History and probably couldn't do that. Some of the questions are really obscure. He's a good guy all around.

I agree he is a great player, but he said right out of his mouth a few years ago that if you don't get your team to the playoffs you don't deserver to win the mvp.

I found this story. Pujols' revenge over Howard - The ReporterSports > Professional: Serving North Penn, Indian Valley and neighboring communities
After winning the award Monday, Pujols, whose Cardinals finished in fourth place in the National League Central, said he was misquoted and clarified how he felt then and now.
"I think the guy misunderstood my words; I said the players who took their team to playoffs should have consideration," Pujols said. "Obviously Howard had the numbers that year and his team was in the playoff race until the last week of the season."
I guess everyone misquoted him our mistake.
