A one year contract would be great for him.
He could mentor the younger guys.
I would love to see him in a set up role like Marmol last year, but I am pretty sure that would never happen.
So Dempster is a done deal, on ESPN they said it was close, but not done yet?

Another reason for the Cubs to sign Randy Johnson is so they never have to face him again. He's 13-0 against them with a 1.84 ERA in his career.

I would take Peavy and Wood over Dempster. ANYDAY
Would love to see a rotation that won't be in flux.
4 Years for 52 million is Way to much after one steller year.
Still alot of fish sandwiches though

no jake peavy now that dempster is back
rotation will look something like
1. Zambrano
2. Dempster
3. Harden
4. Lilly
5. anyone of Hill, Marshall, Gaudin, Marquis, Samarzdjia
.....now we will go look to get Raul Ibanez, Adam Dunn, or Bobby Abreu to play LF. Rafael Furcal is also on the radar and trade talks for Brian Roberts will pop up again

Glad to see this. If he puts together another good year or two, we can trade him if we want more youth. He was really our most consistent pitcher all year.

The Cubs are now going after Teahan???
I have NEVER been impressed with Teahan. In summer ball everyone was talking about him like he was the next big thing even though his numbers at St. Mary's weren't all that scary.... He's no better than what they currently have.

avg year for teahan .268 BA, 12 HR, 61 RBI.... not to terrible, but not a huge upgrade
