Dunn would not be bad at all. He's good for about 40 HR 100 RBI a season and despite his high K total he does have a pretty high on base percentage. .381 for his career, that's much better than Soriano's .329 career OBP and even the past few years if you compare the 2 they are pretty similar in most stats outside of OBP and BA with Dunn being more consistent in the power numbers and Soriano a little higher BA and SB and Dunn K's a few more times but you probably will get more offensive production for less money with Dunn than the Cubs have got for Soriano so far and his big contract.

The Royals are willing to go up to $85 million for their payroll. This would be a GREAT trade for them if they are able to pull it off...

I wouldn't mind having Dunn for his bat but I just dont think he could handle RF at Wrigley. He would be a huge defensive liability. I think I would rather have DeRosa in RF fulltime then Dunn or Teahen.
What I really think the Cubs need to do...As much as it pains me to say it, but I think the Cubs need to trade Derek Lee. His power numbers are really going down and he is becoming a huge double play guy. With his age nearing mid 30's I think it would be best to deal him now while he still has solid value. This would also open the door for Hoffpauir who really deserves to be an every day player with the numbers he is putting up here in Iowa and the limited time he has got in Chicago.

Getting excited for opening day 2009 with the roster moves the Royals have made in the offseason and the $250 stadium upgrade.

Hoffpauir could probably put up similar numbers too.
Sounds like the Cubs are officially out of the Peavy race too. Piniella: Cubs are done seeking Peavy | cubs.com: News |

Maybe we're moving salary around so we can get Peavy.
Imagine having to face a rotation of Buehrle, Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Vazquez. That'd be flat sick-nasty.

I think Lee would be the most logical to trade too but I think he has a no trade clause right? That and the Cubs are too stubborn to trade him too I bet.

As a KC fan, I love Teahan, but he might need a change of scenery. I'd love to get Fontenot on the Royals because he was my favorite I-Cub before he got called up.
