GM ends 9-year endorsement deal with Tiger Woods - Yahoo! News

BTW: As an olive branch for all of the NASCAR & PGA fans out there I have put this under "Pro Sports". tis the season to come together.

Surprise, Surprise....

Marketing your product is still very important. They're cutting off the arm, to save the body.

Anybody else notice how Toyota and Honda, are still advertizing?

GM is also pulling advertising during the SuperBowl.

Question for the day: Can I still make season tickets work for FB and MBB if I move to Canada?

You got that correct. I was listening to a radio program while at lunch and they were talking about how if GM closes down a plant, the UAW contract with them makes GM pay the unemployed workers 90% of there wage/benefits regardless of if they ever work for GM again. They even went so far to say that they could be offered another job at another plant, they could refuse it, stay at home and earn their pay for doing nothing. How did a contract like that ever get signed.

The UAW needs to take a long walk off a short pier.

I doubt Tiger Woods was selling cars. Fast food, candy, soda-I can understand having Tiger endorse. I've never understood celebrity endorsements for cars as most people put a lot of research and thought into buying cars.

Re: GM cuts Tiger Woods sponsership

With the money they'll save by cutting ties to Tiger, it should open the door for a lot more opportunity elsewhere. I don't think a prominent spokesperson ever hurts, but, you have to wonder right now, is GM getting their money's worth from him.

Agree with the unions. I grew up in a UAW family actually and well, I guess my dad got laid off before these big dollar deals came in. Anyways, here is where the unions have to back down and realize that in order to save jobs they are going to have to make concessions. Play hardball all they like, eventually there isn't going to be a ball to play with anymore and their contracts are just going to add more starter to the fire that's about to burn the american auto industry to the ground.
