I agree with the last part for sure! MLB has issues with this and before anyone tells me that the Rays made it further than the Yankees answer this question: is it easier to be the Yankees/Red Sox or the Royals/Rays?

I love how ESPN has been off on every one of the Yankees signing this off season. Peter Gammons looks like he is about to be sick when the Yankees sign another All-Star. He's starting to see another 100 year streak for the Red Sox.

I was hoping my Red Sox would sign him. I think the Yankee's are trying to set the record for most money spent in the off season. Sabathia, Tex, Burnett and yet they will not win the World Series next year.

You should pay players for what they are going to do, not what they've done. That's the Yankees biggest problem.

I'm pretty sure that's their goal. The guys they are signing aren't exactly Randy Johnson. These are young players who are coming to NY to win a Championship.

As high as their payroll is going to be, the Yankees will be paying quite a bit in luxury taxes this season, and in the years to come. If that money is spent wisely, a low-budget team can do quite well. See Rays, Tampa Bay.

Like Mike Mussina, Carl Pavano, Kevin Brown, Jason Giambi...the list goes on and on.
