I wish we signed lopez though and got rid of freakin kennedy, he offers nothing anymore.

Re: St. Louis Cards fans...
Patience has run its course, but 5 years, come on now. We won a World Series just a couple of years ago, didn't we? Like my first post said, this is our year barring serious injury to Carpenter or Wainright. If they stay healthy, we win 90+ games and make a run in the playoffs.

Without some sort of move, maybe 2B, SS, 1 more big time OF this will not be our year to do squat. I hope I eat these words later, but I don't think STL can do much with they hand hey have now except maybe slip into the wildcard.

Hopefully Lohse can win 15 games next year.

Ya i see us finishing 3rd or 4th in the central, we just dont have enough fire power. Plus we cant count on ludwick to have another huge year like last year.

I know, I know, don't hope for anything and you can't get hurt. We had a 281 team batting average and a 986 team fielding %. The O and the D are there. If we don't blow 20+ save opportunities last year we're talking about another playoff season.

Over the past two seasons, the 3rd place team has finished 7 and 11 games back.
By "top heavy" I mean that there are usually no more than 2, sometimes 3, teams that have a legitimate shot at the division going into the season. The Pirates and Reds are insignificant, and the Astros can't seem to put together a full season lately. That leaves the Cubs, Brewers, and Cards, as you mentioned.
This season, I expect the Cubs and Cards to be the top two (given the Brewers lack of pitching). In a 6 team division, I consider that to be top heavy.

Hey, however it goes down, it's our fun to pass the summer until football starts up again.

Re: St. Louis Cards fans...
I don't feel as bad about our rotation (especially if Carpenter can come back fulled rehabilitated) as I do about the middle of the rotation and for god's sakes a steady closer. I don't see our offense having much trouble again, I mean last year scoring runs was no problem and we were 10 games above .500 for 4th place in a rebuliding year in a really tough division. It was also great to get Khalil Greene, Cesar Isturis (ugh) great defender but basically useless with a bat...it was easy to see why the Cubs didn't want him.

Re: St. Louis Cards fans...
Last year was supposed to be an absolute disaster of a season and they finished above .500. This year the expectations are right about where they finished last season, they will once again finish much higher than expectations. We don't buy a lineup, we develop a lineup, and it has always worked fine the way we do it. 10x World Series Championships, most recently 2006.
