They're not even the best kicker brothers, which would be the Gogolak's, Pete & Charley (first soccer style kickers in NFL).
Sterling & Shannon Sharpe?
Merlin & Phil Olson (part of Ram's "Fearsome Foursome")?
Gene & Marvin Upshaw?
LeRoy & Dewey Selman?

We wouldn't have beat Iowa two years ago without a kicker.
Re: Discussion: Best NFL Brothers
Sterling and Shannon Sharpe- Shannon, no doubt is top notch, but Sterling's career was cut too short.
I think this list can be trimmed down to the Mannings, Matthews, and Barbers.
Re: Discussion: Best NFL Brothers
Brett Favre and his younger, lesser-known brother Morty.

Bruce Matthews in in the HOF and Peyton is a sure-fire selection; none of the other four are locks...I'm guessing you're pretty young if that's your final list...

Re: Discussion: Best NFL Brothers
I am suprised they did not have the selmon brothers. The problem was one of them played for a horrible Tampa Bay team in the 70's.
Re: Discussion: Best NFL Brothers
The Mathews are good... I mean, both made major contributions for extended periods of times. The Barbers are very good also. Both solid players for 10 years. The Sharpes, both GREAT players but one was cut awfully short, however the other is the greatest TE of all time statistically.
HOWEVER... that being said, the Mannings will go down as the greatest brother tandem. They're great players who have both won a ring and both have plenty of career in front of them still. Peyton will most likely own most the record book when he's done and Eli will be a HOF if he keeps up at this pace. Right now... it's a toss up, but in my opinion, it won't be close when it's all over with. Mannings win.

Another vote here for the Barbers.
Edit: Sorry Clone4life, accidentally quoted you.

Sterling did get cut short due to an injury, but in his heyday he was a great, not good player....much more talented than his bro.
Re: Discussion: Best NFL Brothers
I would say the Sharpe brothers followed closely by Selmon.
Change of subject, I would put the Stensrud bothers ( mid 70's) as some of the best brothers to play at ISU.
