Down with Wrigley Field???
Zambrano kinda let his tongue slip yesterday and mentioned that he would like to see wrigley go away and have the cubs get a new stadium like new yankee stadium...
I know that saying that is kinda like saying lets tear down the Vatican in some people's eyes but what do all of you think?
I mean Wrigley is old.... it isnt like the cubs have had incredible success there, so i understand that it could go and everything would probably be fine.
I personally dont want it to go away... ive been there and it an awesome place. If they did replace it, it would have to be one hell of a ballpark the build and they would HAVE to have an Ivy wall still.
anyway what do all of you think about the cubs moving out of wrigley???

Re: Down with Wrigley Field???
I can see them replacing the stadium minus the bleachers section. They need new skyboxes, clubhouses and ceilings that won't fall on fans heads.
Being a Cubs fan I would be OK with this, but do NOT touch any part of the bleachers, scoreboard or ivy.

Re: Down with Wrigley Field???
Whether people like it or not Wrigley isn't going to last forever. I would personally love a new stadium but that probably won't happen. Maybe play at US Cellular for a year and do major renovations to it. Like get new restrooms because we know how much fun it is to pee in troughs.

i mean i know he retracted his statement, but he still said it. The more i think about this, the more i think it needs to go. it is soooo old and they could build a kick *** stadium.... we will see

I am not a Cubs fan, but it would be a shame to see it go. I'm sure the new ball park would have some lame corporate name too.
Verizon Park at Wrigley, etc, etc, etc.

The Cubs vs the Red Soxs which will keep their stadium longer

I just hope they build it in the exact same spot, same specs, everything. Just with more of the modern amenities, normal walking clearance, etc.

I would love to watch the politics and under the table deals that would happen if this ever happen, it would be a complete zoo!
If the city got awarded the 2016 olympics, I wonder if it would happen then.

Re: Down with Wrigley Field???
even a renovation would be good.... like i said though. that Ivy wall needs to stay and id probably like to see the scoreboard stay non-electronic...

Yep, its probably not possible but I would like them to knock down everything but the outfield wall, bleachers and scoreboard. Everything else needs to be rebuilt.
