Add that to the fact that he was one heck of a pitcher and he was the stuff that legends were made of.

This must be one of those "things happen in threes" deals... Adenhart, Kalas, Fidrych...

I knew Mark. ...watched him get tossed between games at Sec Taylor 1981. ...played catch with him before games when Evensville came to town. and other fond memories back in the day. I'm going to miss him.

One of the real characters that baseball's had out there. You didn't mention his really eccentric delivery. Didn't his eyes almost go straight up towards the sky when he pitched?

Re: MLB: Fidrych dead
His record shows how pitching workloads have changed. As a 21 year old rookie he pitched 250 innings with 24 complete games. Guts like him would pitch around 180-190 innings now.

Now that you mention it, I think he did have a very odd deliverly. It's been so long since I have seen tape of him pitching. I'm sure they'll have plenty on Sports Center tonight.
