I agree. This schedule release thing is a non-issue. There's enough parity in the league for it not to matter all that much.
Everybody knows which teams are playing each other well before the official schedule comes out. The only "mystery" is the when. The where is already determined based on the 2005 schedule. Arguments based on 2008 winning percentage could have been over with by mid-February.
The 2009 schedule matrix was published in the summer of 2008:
*6 intradivision games
*4 intraconference games AFC East vs. AFC South
AFC North vs. AFC West
NFC East vs. NFC South
NFC North vs. NFC West *4 interconference games AFC East vs. NFC South
AFC North vs. NFC North
AFC South vs. NFC West
AFC West vs. NFC East *2 intraconference games based on division finish AFC East vs. AFC North, AFC West
AFC North vs. AFC East, AFC South
AFC South vs. AFC West, AFC North
AFC West vs. AFC East, AFC South
NFC East vs. NFC North, NFC West
NFC North vs. NFC East, NFC South
NFC South vs. NFC West, NFC North
NFC West vs. NFC East, NFC South
2009 is the last year of the eight-season rotation (2002-09). Unless the NFL decides to make changes, the 2010 matchups should be the same as 2002.
mel kiper is the king ****** of douches. and his views and things are way off. Mcshay is the man.
I can't stand either of them. It's ridiculous that when I turn on my TV in March, I have to sit through 20 minutes of them screaming at each other about who's going to get picked 8th in the draft. Not to mention that on draft weekend, they could spend that time broadcasting ANYTHING but the NFL draft, and it would be 10 times more interesting.
