Heilman was bad for the Mets last year, and he's been bad for the Cubs this year. Unless the game is a blowout, he shouldn't be on the mound.
Lou and Jim will have some decisions to make next week when Zambrano comes off the DL.

I'm saying that it made me very curious at the time, and I'm still not completely sold. At the same time, we haven't had a closer that made me feel comfortable in quite some time.
I think Heileman has had some nice outings, too. Bullpen guys are confusing headcases sometimes.

Cotts could be DFA, maybe even Patton because everyone else is either too expensive to waive or has locked in a spot.

Re: Cub's Bullpen
People have to remember that if the pitchers in ANY bullpen were really great players, they would be starters. That is why it is tough for every team to put together a good bullpen.

Re: Cub's Bullpen
If they pitch in bullpen its because they only have 2 really good pitches.
Im still ticked that they traded Olson for Heilman im not sure Olson is a better pitcher but I'd like him as he's LH

As bad as Cotts has been, Patton has been worse and really doesn't have a role on this team. Its kind of ridiculous that he was on the team in the first place. Patton had never been out of A ball with the Rockies. It was way too soon for him to be up in the majors.

Re: Cub's Bullpen
At least the Cubs have a bullpen...the Angels bullpen is tough for me to watch. Our starter John Lackey literally threw 2 pitches today before he was thrown out and left a full 9 inning game for the bullpen. I don't get why Cubs fans complain about stuff like this. You haven't won a world series for 100 years and it's not gonna happen anytime soon...deal with it!

You might want to rethink that statement after reading this: Lou Piniella rethinking Cubs' bullpen -- chicagotribune.com Cubs statistically have the 2nd worst bullpen in the NL.

Yeah Lackey did that but really do you think that he's have done something like that and the manager not have a clue that he may do it?

Re: Cub's Bullpen
They're at it again. Ascanio comes in, throws two pitches, hits two batters, then gives up an RBI single to Berkman.

Re: Cub's Bullpen
Then tosses a wild pitch to allow a run.

Re: Cub's Bullpen
Anyone else think he may be headed to Iowa after today's performance? What is it with some of the Cubs pitchers not even being close to the plate
