the debate over which player is currently superior isn't much of a debate anymore

If you are building a team right now than it is Lebron. If you want to win right now than it is Kobe.

Kobe is a better shooter and a better defender (I dont want to hear about Lebron's one year of blocked shots)

Lebron is a better passer, rebounder, and finisher.

Can't go wrong with either, but when the game is in the 4th quarter, who would you rather take? Easy answer RIGHT NOW is Kobe

B/c Lebron had a ton of awesome blocks. One year doesn't make him a better defender.

Kobe has been known as a top 5 defender for years! 1st team all NBA defense something like 8 times. Lebron was known for playing no defense until this year

Id pick Lebron. Lebron doesnt need to take a jump-shot he's so strong he can easily get to the rim anytime and create. Kobe will always take that jumper. Its tough. But I'd want the ball in Lebron's hands.

You missed the point. He wasn't even mentioned with defense prior to this year. While Kobe has been a top defender for years. Kobe is the better defender

Lebron is awesome and is going to have a wonderful career. But he is no Kobe yet, he could be and looks to be on his way, but Kobe has done it consistently for 10 years.
