I like Bob Brenly but I do miss Stone's commentary. He could call a pitch before it was even thrown and you always seemed to learn something new every game. Sox fans should be grateful the Cubs were dumb enough to run him and Chip off. I think that's right.
I still can't believe Dusty didn't ask that one simple question. Don't players have anything better to do?
Was this the same season that there were reports that Zambrano might develop wrist or arm problems due to frequent Internet usage/e-mail?
Man, our team was a bunch of headcases during the Dusty years. -

Man, our team was a bunch of headcases during the Dusty years. Don't forget what Alou did to toughen his hands -
Re: Steve Stone
I always thought that was a real pathetic move by the cubs organization when they let those guys go. I think it made the whole team and organization look like sore crybaby losers. Its the announcers job to analyze things. Jeez, a guy criticizing a team that hasn't won in 100 years, who would have thought of such a thing???

Santo is definitely not a good analyst but I love listening to him and Pat on the radio. He is very passionate and calls games like we would call an Iowa State game. And his reactions to some things are priceless.

Pat is okay, but Ron makes for a great radio listen.
Some times it sounds like Ron has been drinking up in the booth when I listen during the day and that's cool, because I drink at work too.

Re: Steve Stone
Ron is an institution. I'd rather have him than some hired hand doing the calls. He's not doing play by play - he's color and I'd prefer to have a Cub than some random polished hall of famer. Pat does a better than adequate job calling the game.
Don't mind the TV guys - particularly Brenley. But I look at them a bit like John Walters following Pete (not trying to suggest that Harry was LIKE Pete). But Harry was every bit the Cubs the way Pete was the Clones. No matter what - those follow up guys are always gonna seem to come up a little short. Chip was a different case just because he was legacy.
